After the successful completion of the trial of two turbines recently, the trial of the third one failed because the oil-field cable exploded during the test run at the 390 Mw-Dulhasti hydro-electric power project in Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, NHPC sources said. |
During the test run of the 130-Mw turbine number one, an oil-field cable exploded, bringing the power generation at Dulhasti to a complete halt at Kishtwar belt in Doda district, the sources said. |
The test trial was carried out in the presence of a technical team of NHPC. |
The authorities have already successfully tested two turbines with 130 Mw generation capacity each last week. |
"But yesterday's cable burst has totally stopped the operation of the project," the sources said, adding that oil field cable is a part of turbines and power house and was set up by a French company. |

The economic task force on Jammu and Kashmir in its report to the Prime Minister had recommended transfer of Dulhasti to the state in lieu of losses made due to the Indus water treaty with Pakistan. |
