These projects were worth Rs. 4,092 crore.
Gujarat government may have received investment commitments to the tune of Rs. 35,276 crore in agriculture sector during the fourth Vibrant Gujarat Summit but total 30 projects proposed in the previous three summits have been dropped so far.
As per the data available with the state agriculture department, memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for a total 99 agri sector projects were signed during the vibrant summits held in the years 2003, 2005 and 2007. These projects involved an investment of Rs. 11,476 crore. However, out of the 99 projects, 30 entailing an investment of Rs. 4,092 crore have been shelved so far.
Though some of the projects could not materialise, around 48 projects involving an investment of Rs. 703 crore, announced during the first three summits, have been commissioned, while 21 projects worth Rs. 6,081 crore are under implementation.
Out of five projects announced in the vibrant summit 2003, three could not see the light of the day. In 2005 summit, 34 MoUs were signed, of them 14 projects with an investment of Rs. 615 crore have been dropped so far.
Vibrant summit held in 2007 saw announcement of 60 agri projects entailing an investment of Rs. 10,125 crore.

Of these, 13 projects worth Rs. 3,973 crore have failed to materialise, while 31 projects have been made operational.
"MoUs signed are just an expression of company's intention to set up a project in the state. So many factors could be responsible for dropping the projects. Acquisition of land, viability of project or non-availability of funds may be some of the reasons", said a top government official.
