Thomas to make presentation on Food Bill at FAO meet

Food minister is in Rome to participate in 40th ministerial level conference of Food & Agricultural Organisation

India’s ambitious National Food Security Act will be for the first time presented in front of an international audience, as food minister K V Thomas will make a presentation on the finer details of the Bill in front of member countries of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

The Bill was recently cleared by Parliament.

Thomas who is in Rome to participate in the 40th ministerial level conference of Food & Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations is also expected to hold meetings with a host of dignitaries to explain the finer details of the Bill, an official statement released here today said.

The Food Bill promises legal entitlement for cheap grains to over 80 crore Indians.
