An anxious Tibetan government-in-exile in India today issued an urgent appeal to the world community to stop China from taking extreme steps to stop anti-China protests in Tibet. The deadline set by China for the protesters to surrender expires at midnight. |
"The current situation in Tibet is extremely serious. The Chinese government's ultimatum is due to expire at midnight today. We are extremely concerned there could be a huge massacre of Tibetans after the ultimatum," said a spokesman of the Tibetan government-in-exile. |

"We appeal to the international community, the United nations, human rights groups, among others, to effectively urge the Chinese leadership to immediately stop repression and release detainees and provide medical aid to all the injured," said the spokesman. |
