The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday announced various social measures worth Rs 203.87 crore for unskilled workers in the state to mark the 100th anniversary celebrations of Aringar Anna. These would benefit 4.1 million workers, according to an official release.
The measures include financial assistance to the workers' families who died in an accident or otherwise, educational assistance, financial assistance for wedding, and pension among others.
The government has aslo decided to computerise the department which takes care of unskilled workers. It would to provide 303 computers along with broadband and application software to the offices across the state.
State agency Electronics Corporation of India (Elcot) will build application software and main server through which these offices will be connected and monitored. Elcot will also give training to officials working in these offices, the release said.
