Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi said the state had formed a welfare board for the cinema industry. Besides, it has proposed to set up a cinema township.
Karunanidhi was speaking on the sidelines of the two-day Media and Entertainment Business Conclave being organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci), here on Wednesday.
He said the Indian media and entertainment industry was one of the fastest growing sectors with a market size of Rs 58,400 crore in 2008, recording a growth of 12.4 per cent over last year. He said the industry was projected to reach Rs 105,200 crore by 2013 at the same growth rate.
