The Tamil Nadu government has issued orders for setting up country-specific industrial parks – for Japan, Korea, Finland, Germany and France – in the state.

The government also said that new industries providing direct jobs to more than 750 people and 1,500 in the case of Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts, will be given special incentive packages, provided at least 75 per cent of the employees belong to the state, according to the policy note for industries presented by deputy chief minister M K Stalin in the state Assembly on Monday.

The policy note added that the proposal to develop country-specific industrial parks is aimed at attracting more investments and is one of the steps to face the current economic slowdown.

The State Industrial Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) will develop each park in an extent of about 100 acre to cater to the needs of the potential investors of these countries, the policy note said. SIPCOT has proposed to earmark land for the country-specific industrial parks in the expansion scheme of the Sriperumpudur Industrial Park, after completion of the acquisition process, it added.

“Industrial units, which were allotted land in the SIPCOT park, should reserve 10 per cent of direct jobs created by the units for family members of the land owners, subject to the availability of skills and other qualifications,” the note said.
