Trade benefits: Developing, developed economies differ

A new report by Pew Research Center, based on 48,643 interviews in 44 countries, says India and other developing economies view trade more favourably compared to developed economies. The report says 49 per cent of the respondents in India think trade leads to higher job growth and wages and 25 per cent think foreign companies building factories in India is very good. Developed countries such as the US and Japan are more sceptical about the benefits from trade. An overwhelming 50 per cent in the US think trade leads to job losses and 45 per cent think it leads to a decrease in wages
