As the summer sets in, thermal power stations have started giving troubles leading to more dark spells in the state. Owing to a reduction of 950 MW in generating capacity, as against the requirement of 6,800 MW, due to planned and unplanned outages, the Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (APTransco) today came out with a statement that power cuts would be imposed through out the state to properly manage the grid situation.
According to Transco, 500 MW unit-1 at NTPC Simhadri power station tripped at 1.00 pm on Wednesday due to economizer tube leak and is expected back by March 8.
