Disclosing this in a video conference held with the CMDs of four Discoms, Rachel Chatterjee, the CMD of Transco, said that an additional supply of 4,280 million units (mu) of power inclusive of 537 mu towards the additional drawal and 3743 mu to compensate the shortfall in hydel generation, is considered to be met for this purpose. The hydro generation during this year is expected to be less by 323 mu when compared to the last year.
The extra power needed for the growing agricultural demand will be met by over drawing power from the central generating stations and through additional purchases to the extent available in the country.
