The Calcutta Stock Exchange, however, remained open.

Air traffic is reported to be normal. Blockades at both the Howrah and Sealdah lines have insterrupted suburban trains as well as long distance ones that are running behind schedule.

The Airports Authority of India(AAI) banned the visitors' entry inside the airport buildings to avoid overcrowding as many passengers reached the airport long before morning to avoid being stuck on the way due to the bandh.

As for the districts,  34 people were arrested in Cooch Behar district for trying to enforce the bandh forcefully, according to agency reports.
