Regretting no money had been allocated for extension of tracks in Tripura in the rail budget, the ruling left front today dubbed the budget of Mamata Banerjee as 'illusory'.
"It is an illusory budget for this backward North-Eastern state whose demand for running two new trains from Agartala to Dharmanagar in North Tripura district has been ignored," the front said in a statement here.
Criticising the railway minister for not allocating money in the budget for extension of railway track in Tripura, the front said the budget was silent on the proposals for extension of new railway track from Agartala to Sabroom in South Tripura district and conversion of the track from narrow guage to broad guage along the Lumding-Agartala stretch.
Industry and Commerce minister Jitendra Chowdhury said the state government demanded 110-km rail track expansion from Agartala to Sabroom.
"It is unfortunate that the railway minister did not sanction it," he added.
