Telangana Rashtra Samithi legislators resigned again on Monday demanding separate statehood to the region. All the 11 legislators of TRS sent their resignation letters by fax to the office of the Assembly Speaker, Nadendla Manohar.

The TRS legislators have tendered their resignations for the second time in a span of three weeks as the Speaker had rejected their earlier resignation letters. Party MLA, K Tarakarama Rao, said this time they would stage a dharna before the Speaker’s office if their resignations were not accepted.

Cutting across party lines, 13 MPs and 101 MLAs, including 12 ministers from the Telangana region, resigned on July 4. However, the Speaker rejected their resignations on Saturday night before leaving for London to attend a conference.

The Telugu Desam Party said the Speaker did a ‘mistake’ by rejecting the resignations and decided to challenge the decision in a court. The TDP legislators have also decided to resign again and this time hand over their resignation letters to the Speaker personally after he returns from London.

TDP Telangana Forum convenor, E Dayakar Rao, said the party had formed a four-member committee to proceed legally against the Speaker's decision.

Meanwhile, the Telangana political Joint Action Committee announced that the agitation would be intensified if the Centre failed to decide the separate statehood issue by August 1.
