TVS, SBM join hands to promote Dasara

This year's Mysore Dasara could set the trend for an year-long tourism in Mysore on the lines of Singapore, Maldives and Mauritius.
 
With a new emphasis and added features this year, Dasara festivities committee officials are confident that the celebrations could be a harbinger to year-long tourist promotion programmes spread over Christmas, New Year and festival season of April-May.
 
Keeping this in mind, they are making all efforts to ensure that the celebrations are a big success, attracting over 15 lakh tourists.
 
With additional features like the drama festival at Town Hall, music programmes at Veene Seshanna Bhavan, a veterinary show at Kuppanna Park, adventure sports at Mandakalli airport and a 'heritage walk' to showcase the rich historical and architectural heritage of Mysore, the organisers want to make the visitors "carry the message of Dasara with them" and give tourism a boost.
 
It is not only puts Mysore and its rich culture in the spotlight, but also highlights the architectural, historic and religious centres like Somanathapur, Srirangapattana and Nanjangud with three-day Dasara programmes there.
 
The Madikeri Dasara coincides with Mysore Dasara and is gaining in prominence. "These can add up to a tourist circuit promotion," says Dasara festivities deputy special officer and Mysore City Corporation commissioner A B Ibrahim.
 
With great interest both at the government and private levels in organising a grand Dasara, the local industry, including the hospitality industry, is not lagging behind. About 25 hotels and 40 commercial establishments have decided to offer discounts during the tourist season.
 
TVS, Nanjangud, has promised to keep up their tradition of sponsoring music programmes in the palace.
