Two more persons died of swine flu (H1N1 flu virus) on Sunday, taking the total death toll to nine in Andhra Pradesh.

“Taking a serious note of the increasing cases of HIN1 in the state, we have directed all government hospitals to enhance facilities besides asking the private and corporate hospitals to earmark isolated wards with at least 10 beds and 5 ventilators each. While 14 private hospitals have already agreed for this, others have evinced positive response and assured that they would create facilities by September 25,” chief minister K Rosaiah said.

After holding a review meeting with the representatives of private and corporate hospitals at the Gandhi Hospital here today, the chief minister said besides the government chest hospital, four more hospitals in Hyderabad had created facilities – including ventilators and deploying more doctors and support staff – for the treatment of HIN1 flu virus.

“So far, we have eight designated screening centres and we are planning to set up six more shortly,” the chief minister said.
