Two software engineers, who arrived at the airport here from the US were today quarantined for suspected H1N1 virus and their throat swab samples were sent to Pune-based National Institute of Virology for testing, a top health official said.
"Two persons with suspected flu symptoms have been admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases here. Their throat culture swabs have been sent to NIV, Pune, for analysis," Health Commissioner Shrinivasachari told PTI.
Srinivasachari said 20,300 passengers have been so far screened in the state, both at Bengaluru International and Mangalore airports. He said 18,600 passengers were screened at BIA and the rest at Mangalore airport.
He said currently 13 hospitals, including three private ones, have been identified by the state government to treat suspected flu cases even as other hospitals have been asked to be ready to provide backup facilities in case of crisis.
