Two cases of swine flu were detected in Orissa even as strict vigil is being maintained for the persons coming to the state from outside. While first case has been reported in Balasore, the second case was detected in Rourkela.
The 23 year old Ratikanta Nayak of Soro has tested positive along with Amit Kumar Singh, a student of NIT, Rourkela. Both the patients are not in hospital now and steps were being taken to admit them into hospital, state health and family welfare minister Prasanna Acharya said.
After a high level meeting in the state secretariat, Acharya said, 24 samples were sent for testing to National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED), Kolkata. Out of it 17 reports have received by the hospital authorities. While 15 persons tested negative, two reported positive.
Meanwhile, state government continues surveillance at Biju Patnaik airport and Paradeep port, which are the two major entry points in the state.
