The BJP yesterday held that the conflicting statements from United Front leaders on the attitude of the Front towards the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) demonstrated the beginning of the end to the UF saga. The party held that mid-term elections was the only solution to the present imbroglio.

The Left parties have publicly announced that they would not permit the RJDs entry into the UF and that they would also insist on Prime Mnister IK Gujral sacking the three Union ministers loyal to Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, BJP spokesperson Yashwant Sinha pointed out.

The Lefts approach has been opposed by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Karunanidhi, who has advocated the RJDs inclusion in the UF, he further pointed out. The Telugu Desam Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minisiter N Chandrababu Naidu has already said that Yadav should quit.

There is no way the Left would be able to accept Karunanidhis position, Sinha said, and hoped that this would give a fillip to the Left to intensify its proposed agitation against the governments economic policies.
