University of Chicago is planning to open an India centre that would facilitate research, student exchange programmes and executive education, among others.
“We are finalising the details on this front. There is a faculty committee which studied various locations in India and decided on New Delhi. Right now we are evaluating the location for the centre in Delhi,” said Sunil Kumar, dean, Chicago Booth School of Business. Kumar's five-year term as dean began this January.
With its proposed centre, University of Chicago will join the ranks of a dozen international universities which have firmed up plans to set up centres in India, in the past one year.
At present, over half-a-dozen international B-schools are offering executive education programmes in the country.
