The Mumbai makeover plan of the state government has got major boost with the central government accepting schemes worth Rs 10,400 crore, which aimed at augmenting Mumbai infrastructure to be financed under National Urban Renewal Mission (NURM). He told the house that the state government has submitted projects worth Rs 21,400 crore for improving Mumbai infrastructure to the central government. The approved schemes include Middle Vaitarna dam project, Mumbai Sewage Disposal Project and two major flyovers. |

Patil also announced Rs 6,553.39 crore Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) Phase II, which is being submitted to the state government by Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), is under active consideration of the state government. And MUTP-Phase I will be completed by the end of 2008 which will increase passenger carrying capacity of suburban trains and BEST buses by 35 per cent, he added. |

In order to avoid July 26 like situation, development and protection of Mithi river is on high priority and the second phase of cleaning, widening, beautification and rehabilitation of those who are living on the banks of Mithi river will be undertaken soon. |
