US foodchains seek footprint in Bengal

American food brands have begun to look eastwards in search of franchisees. Six US food brands have evinced interest to form partnerships in Bengal to expand their presence in the Indian market. They see a high potential of food processing industry.

To help potential Indian franchisees find suitable business partners in US, the United States Commercial Service, an agency of the US Department of Commerce, has announced the “Focus Franchising” programme. The US Commercial Service has been collecting expressions of interest from Indian companies for the six companies.

The companies that have evinced interest are Church’s Chicken, a quick service chicken chains specialising in fried chicken, CKE Restaurants Inc, one of the premier food service chains, Tropical Sno, The Melting Pit, one of premier US fondue restaurant franchisees, Round Table Pizza, America’s fifth largest pizza franchise firm and Papa John’s International Inc, the third largest pizza company in the world.
