United States of America is exploring business opportunities for the US corporate giants in Vadodara. The consul general of the US government was on his first visit to the city to interact with the city-based business fraternity.

Briefing the media, Michael Owen, consul general of USA, said, "US has substantial interest in Gujarat and particularly in Vadodara as it has General Motors (GM) production base."

Owen was on two-day visit to Vadodara to meet business community of the city and will also visit Champaneer as the US government is contributing to the restoration of the Champaneer's historical sites.

"There is vast opportunity in Vadodara and it houses a vibrant business community," Owen said.

He said, "We are looking to create a possible tie-up of US companies with local major here in Vadodara."

However, he made a point that the exploring of opportunity wouldn't be one sided. Even the US is in look out of finding potential Vadodara based companies to invest in US, he added.

When asked whether he had identified any opportunity in Vadodara, he said, "Our work is to look out for opportunities and inform to the US companies then it all depends upon them to take decision."

However he hinted that Gujarat is well known for IT sectors.
