The Uttarakahand government will spend Rs 400 crore to build a 200-bedded state-of-the-art medical college at the hill resort of Almora.
The medical college will be constructed in 42 acres of land, said chief secretary Subhash Kumar at a meeting to finalise the plans for the Almora medical college.
In March this year, Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank laid the foundation stone for the Doon medical college to be built at the old jail premises here.
With this, Uttarakhand will have at least four medical colleges in near future where MBBS degree would be available for students at a meagre fee of Rs 15000 per annum.
“Medical students in Uttarakhand will have the proud privilege to get MBBS degrees by paying fees of Rs 15000 per year,” said Kumar.
Stating that Almora medical college would be a state-of-the-art institute, Kumar expressed the hope that the construction work of the medical college would soon be started.
