Electronics payments saw a dip in value and a marginal rise in volume in July over the previous month, says the Reserve Bank of India's monthly bulletin.
The total value of these payments was Rs 1,96,91,189 crore, a five per cent dip. The volume for July rose to 1,876.5 million, from 1,820.5 mn.
Mobile banking saw a significant dip from June, the volume dipping to 111.79 mn, from 115.73 mn. The value for July dipped 22 per cent to Rs 139,620 crore.
Credit and debit cards saw a slight rise in volume but fell in value. The value of credit card payments was Rs 34,215 crore, against Rs 35,750 crore in June. The value of debit card payments for July dipped to Rs 261,411 crore, from Rs 263,217 crore.
Prepaid payment instruments (PPI) -- comprising mobile wallets, PPI cards and paper vouchers -- saw a rise in both value and volume. The volume rose from 255.65 mn in June to 270.24 mn; value rose from Rs 8,507 crore to Rs 9,856 crore.
The volume and value for Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) for July was 9.38 mn and Rs 11,056,210 crore, respectively. A marginal fall from 9.83 mn transactions, with an aggregate value of Rs 1,16,20,057 crore, in June.
