In an effort to resolve the controversial Ayodhya dispute in an out of court settlement, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is planning to hold talks with the Nirmohi Akhara and Hashim Ansari, the oldest two litigants in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi title case.
Senior members of the VHP said the talks would be held in Ayodhya on November 17-19 and they are hopeful of an outcome.
“All the members of the Sant Uchadhikar Samiti will be present in Ayodhya at that time and they will hold discussions with both the parties. We are hopeful that an out of court settlement will take place but these discussions would be difficult because all the parties don’t want to give up their stand,” said a senior VHP member who is part of the discussions.
It is the first time that VHP would be directly involved in talks with both these parties. “It is well known that there are differences between the VHP and Nirmohi Akhara but we believe these can be resolved because both us want construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site. Both the organisations also agree on the point that no new mosque should be constructed in Ayodhya,” added the VHP member.
