Viklang Samiti demands repayment of deposits

The Viklang Seva Samiti, an organisation working for the upliftment of physically challenged, have made a representation to the Surat Collector demanding immediate repayment of money stuck in various beleaguered co-operative banks.
 
The Samiti has asked the Collector to take necessary steps to ensure that the physically challenged people get their money back.
 
The Samiti, in the representation said that approximately Rs 12 lakh, belonging to 11 physically challenged persons of the city, were stuck in Diamond Jubilee Co-operative Bank, Suryapur Co-operative Bank and Visnagar Co-operative Bank.
 
Talking to the media, Samiti member Jitendra Panwala, said, "Hard-earned money of the physically challenged persons is stuck in these banks. We have sought steps so that such depositors get their money back immediately.
 
"We have demanded that the government give a positive thought to various pending issues of the physically challenged persons. We have sought a three per cent job reservation in co-operative sector for the physically challenged," Panwala added.
