The riot hit Kandhamal district in south Orissa witnessed a fresh outbreak of violence today leading to the death of one person while ten others including two women were injured.
This follows call given by different communities to maintain peace yesterday and announcement of a special development package for this tribal dominated district by the chief minister recently.
The deceased has been identified as Ramani Nayak, a woman of Gadaguda village.
The incident of violence was reported from Rudangia village under G.Udayagiri police station, where the miscreants allegedly set ablaze several houses and a church.
This has come close on the heels of a peace committee meeting, comprising all communities of Kandhamal district held at Phulabani, the district headquarter town and the firm appeal to peace made by Kuee Samaja Coordination Committee, a tribal organisation.
Following the outbreak of violence, the villagers rushed to relief camps and blocked the roads to the village while several others fled to jungle fearing police action.

Kishan Kumar, the district collector and Praveen Kumar, the superintendent of police rushed to the village along with heavy forces. One person has been arrested in connection with violence.
“More Central forces have been deployed in the area to ward off any further untoward incident. The police along with the security personnel have started combing operation in the area to nab the culprits”, said a police official.
With the outbreak of the latest incident of violence, the total death toll in the month-long communal violence in the district has reached 32 but unofficial sources have put the death toll at 42.
