Water treatment and recycling business will become a core element for the industries in Gujarat over next five to ten years, believe industry players.
With Gujarat having vibrant industrial environment and manufacturing activity growing at a rapid pace, the need of water for the industries as well as for the consumption purpose will attract corporates to get into water recycling and processing activity.
Kamal Tiwari, co-founder, Earth Water Group informed that water treatment industry in India is still in its nascent stage. However, the industry has a potential to transform itself into a big industry in next 5-10 years.
"With growing need of industry and reducing availability of water resources, recycling and water treatment is one of the best options we have. Although, the industry is very small at present but growing at a rapid pace," told Tiwari, who was in town for a curtain raiser announcement of the 8th EverythingAboutWater Expo in Mumbai on January 6-8, 2011.
Speaking to media persons today, Tiwari informed that India’s water treatment and equipment sector has a potential to become one of the largest in the world. "India can attract investments to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore in next 10 years. We have a huge potential as the population is vast and water demand is rising sharply. Currently, the industry is growing at a growth rate of 18% year-on-year," Tiwari added.
The investment is expected to come from government as well as from the private players.
