The World Bank has decided to resume healthcare funding for India after more than a year's gap following negotiations with the Indian government which resulted in a plan to ensure greater transparency and accountability in healthcare projects. This will result in an inflow of $662 million towards three projects.

The bank has also lifted the suspension of its financing for the Mumbai Urban Transport Project, involving an assistance of about Rs 1,031 crore.

The bank's decision to resume funding of healthcare projects came after the government mounted intensive efforts to clarify misgivings it might have had, a finance ministry release said.
