Geneva-based World Economic Forum (WEF), known for its annual Davos meetings, will be shifting the venue of its India edition event from this year to Mumbai.

After being held in Delhi for 26 years, the India Economic Summit, jointly organised by the domestic industry chamber CII and WEF, will be held in the country's financial capital in November.

"Coming to Mumbai is a reflection of the Forum's intent to show not only what the national government and central policies mean for regional growth, but to also demonstrate how the regions of India contribute to the success of the national agenda," the WEF said in a statement here today.

The India Economic Summit has been attracting corporate honchos and hosting government and political leaders, including union ministers.

In line with the public discourse on corruption, the Mumbai meeting will focus on governance reforms and finding new models of public-private-partnership business, CII said.

The WEF, founded in 1971, is an independent international organisation committed to improve the state of the world by engaging business, political and academic leaders to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
