Welfare schemes launched in Singur

Tata Motors has identified three focus areas""health, education and livelihood""as part of its community development programme in Singur, the small car project site.

The programme includes training, according to an individual's educational qualifications and skill aimed at improving employability, training women for employability""through facilitation of cooperative societies""to produce a diverse range of items which could be used in the Tata Motors plant or the vendor plants and social development in Singur through community centres and support for primary health, provision for drinking water, primary and secondary education and adult education.

Tata Motors flagged off its initiative to support the cause of primary and secondary school education in Singur.

The company provided desks, benches, chairs, tables, cupboards and electrical fittings in addition to educational and sports material to a primary school in neighbouring hamlets of Ruidaspara, Beraberi, in the presence of school authorities, panchayat officials, Tata Motors' officials and residents.
