Stating that remarks made by the Supreme Court of India, the National Human Rights Commission and even top BJP leaders clearly indicated that the state government had failed in discharging its duties, the Union textiles minister Shankersinh Vaghela on Tuesday strongly demanded that President's rule be imposed in Gujarat. |
"I am not saying this just because the government has changed at the Centre. The logical conclusion is that the Gujarat government must go. I will raise this issue in the Cabinet meeting," Vaghela said. |
He said the government will prepare a White Paper on the Godhra train carnage and the post-Godhra riots. |
"Many things will become known once the White Paper is ready. The country will know many facts about the Godhra carnage that they did not know. After all, there was a BJP government both in Gujarat and New Delhi. Why was the Godhra incident allowed to happen?" he asked. |
Asked if a CBI inquiry would be ordered into the Godhra incident and post-Godhra riots, Vaghela said this proposal is not under consideration at present, but could come up for consideration at a later stage. |
