The Spices Board of India and All India Spices Exporters Forum are teaming up to organise the 11th World Spice Congress in Pune from February 9 to 11.

The three-day event is expected to see buyers, processors, manufacturers, producers and traders from over 35 countries. Delegates from countries including Canada, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Sweden, the UK, US, Malaysia, South Africa, Syria, Australia, China, Italy, Poland, France, Denmark, Germany, among others would participate, a Spices Board press release said.

Over 200 international delegates and 300 Indian participants have already registered. '“Sustainability and Food Safety - Global Initiatives' is the theme of the event.

Majority of spices producers and exporters are unable to meet the fast changing standards set by foreign countries. The Congress will address the need to standardise these rules on an international basis, the release said.

Scientist MS Swaminathan will inaugurate the congress. The business sessions will focus on crops, contaminants, supply chain challenges among others.
