The state government has also decided to issue show-cause notices to those who were given limestone mines on lease two years ago, but have not yet started the civil work.
The chief minister, who met the Group of Ministers on Thursday, said state finance minister K Rosaiah would convene a meeting of cement manufacturers who are yet to complete their quota at fixed rate towards the government housing schemes. There were also some companies that did not even complete 10 per cent of their quota.
"The government's intent is not to trouble cement manufacturers but at the same time it is firm on bringing down the prices of cement to a reasonable level to ensure that the common man is not put to hardships,'' Reddy said, adding the state government had not increased the power tariff for the last four years for the industries.
