Led by top recruiter Accenture making 33 internship offers, consulting was the lead sector in the recently concluded summer placements process for PGP and PGP Business Analytics (BA) Class of 2021-23 of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B).
Along with the likes of Bain & Company (22) and The Boston Consulting Group (22), the consulting companies made in all 181 offers of the total 542 extended towards 513 students. Other top recruiters in consulting included Kearney, McKinsey & Company, Tata Consultancy Services, Alvarez & Marsal, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, GEP Consulting, NRI Consulting, and Strategy&, among others.
Prominent recruiters in the information technology and IT product management domain, which made 41 offers, included Microsoft, Samsung, Walmart Global Tech, Visa Inc., InfoEdge, UHG Optum, Adobe, Atlassian, and others.
According to U Dinesh Kumar, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore, the successful placements was a clear signal from the recruiters that the economy is reviving, and the industry is looking for talent in large numbers to manage the post pandemic market.
The combined bucket of E-commerce, and Operations extended 42 offers including those from Amazon, Flipkart , Uber, Myntra, and others.
The finance domain made 84 offers led by the likes of Goldman Sachs, Citibank, Avendus Capital, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, Blackstone, HSBC, and Bank of America, among others.
Conglomerates recruited for their leadership tracks, making 76 offers in general management positions with Adani Group leading with seven offers followed by Tata Administrative Services, Aditya Birla Group, Vedanta, Reliance, Bajaj Finserv, CK Birla, NPCI, Capgemini, Hinduja Group, Jindal Steel, JSW, and Piramal, among others.
Students opting for Sales and Marketing roles received 99 offers and were recruited by major consumer goods firms led by Nestle, Pidilite, Samsung, Asian Paints, HUL, Disney-Star, Colgate-Palmolive, Mondelez, Coca-Cola, Dabur, and ITC, among others.
Analytics roles received 19 offers with major recruiters including American Express and FinIQ, along with others, while some of the leading start-ups that offered internships included Navi Technologies, Unacademy, Byju’s, Udaan, LatentView Analytics, Licious, Purplle, and Swiggy.
