CAT 2017: Admit cards released today. Steps to follow while downloading

Admit Cards for CAT 2017 Examination are released today (25th Oct, 2017 Wed). Candidates can see the official notification at www.iimcat.ac.in. The The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow had extended the CAT 2017 Online Registration date to September 25th. ‘The last date of registration has been extended to September 25, 2017 (5:00 pm). Candidates are advised to register and complete their applications well before this date. There will be no further extension’ read the official word on the site.

Candidates can download their Admit Cards for CAT 2017 from 25th October 2017 to 26th November 2017. Keep in mind that the mock test for CAT 2017 will be available in the last week of October. Also it is to be noted that candidates who indicate their interest for IIM Indore PGP while applying for CAT 2017 will be considered for PGP (both Indore & Mumbai campus) of IIM Indore. Final selection will be as per the admission procedure for the respective programme.

The Common Admission Test (CAT 2017) will be conducted on November 26 in 140 Test Cities across India. The Candidates will have an option to select 4 Test Cities in order of preference.  The duration of the Exam will be 180 minutes. The CAT entrance examination is conducted for admission to these 20 IIMs and more than 100 institutes across India. The elite IIMs are at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bodh Gaya, Calcutta, Indore, Jammu, Kashipur, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Shillong, Sirmaur, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur and Visakhapatnam. The IIMs will also release a tutorial to understand the format of the test on October 18. Candidates must work on the tutorials available on the website well in advance.

How to Download Admit Card: Only those who have successfully submitted their application will be given the CAT admit card.
  • Visit the official site www.iimcat.ac.in.
  • Search for and click the Existing User tab to log in
  • Provide your User ID and Password and hit the Enter key
  • Admit Card would be displayed on the screen
NOTE: Before downloading, kindly check the details on the card. It will have candidates’ name and other necessary details, user ID, test venue and test timing. If correct, print it out. If the candidates cannot download Admit Card or finds discrepancies in the same, they must immediately to get in touch with the CAT Help Desk (Help Desk Number: 1-800-266-3549).

Separate Notifications From IIMs:
The Applicants taking up the exam for the first time can go through the registration guide and video which is available on the official site. Keep in mind that the graduates must have at least 50% marks to be eligible to apply for CAT 2017 and 45% for the graduates under reserved categories. There will be separate notifications from IIM Ahmedabad, PGPEM & PGPPM Programmes of IIM Bangalore, EPGP of IIM Indore, and EFPM & EPGPM of IIM Kashipur, PGP-ABM & PGP-SM of IIM Lucknow, PGPWE of IIM Raipur, PGDHRM of IIM Ranchi, EPGP of IIM Rohtak, PGPEX of RGIIM Shillong and PGPBM of IIM Tiruchirappalli for their management courses such as PGP-FABM & ePGP.

Normalization of CAT scores And Admission Process

The exam will go through two sessions. Two different test forms shall be given in two test sessions. The scores shall be based on the process of Normalization that will adjust for location and scale differences of score distributions across different forms. Later on, the scores shall be further normalized across different sections. Check out the official website of IIM CAT for further details. Admission to the IIMs is followed by Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). The candidates’ previous academic scores, work experiences may be taken into consideration for short-listing.
