ISC, ISCE results 2018: The wait for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) class 10 and Indian School Certificate (ISC) class 12 exam results is finally over as the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) on Monday released both the results of ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 at 3 pm.
At least 64 ISC and ICSE students have been able to secure more than 99 per cent across the country. Over 49 students got more than 99 per cent in ISC Class 12 examinations and 15 students scored more than 99 per cent in ICSE Class 10 examinations.
Mumbai boy Swayam Das topped ICSE Class 10 exams with 99.4 per cent. Jalandhar's Jasmin Kaur Chahal and Mumbai's Anokhi Amit Mehta jointly bagged the second position with 99.2 per cent each. The third position was shared by 12 students who scored 99 per cent each, reported PTI.
"Class 12 saw a pass percentage of 96.21 recording a slight dip from last year's 96.47 per cent, while 98.51 per cent students passed Class 10," said Gerry Arathoon, CEO of the CISCE Council.
A total of 183,387 students from 2,161 schools had appeared for the Class 10 examination, which was conducted in 61 written subjects. Of these, 22 were Indian languages, 10 foreign languages and one classical language. In Class 12, 80,880 students from 1,034 schools appeared for the exam, which was conducted in 48 written subjects. Of these, 14 were Indian languages, five foreign languages and two classical languages, reported PTI.
"In both Class 12 and Class 10 exams, girls have outperformed boys," Arathoon told reporters.
According to a report in PTI, in Class 12, the pass percentage of girls is 97.63 per cent while that of boys is 94.96 per cent. Similarly, in the Class 10 examination, the pass percentage of girls is 98.95 per cent while that of boys is 98.15 per cent.
In terms of regions, the southern region recorded the highest pass percentage in Class 12 at 98.38 per cent. The southern (99.69 per cent) and western regions (99.67 per cent) have the highest pass percentage in Class 10.
According to CISCE Council CEO, Gerry Arathoon, Class 10 results recorded a pass percentage of 98.5 per cent, while 96.21 per cent of the students passed Class 12 exam.

From this year, CISCE has slashed pass marks for both class 10 and class 12 exams. Class 10 students now need only 33 marks to qualify, down two marks from previous year's pass marks. For ISC, pass marks have been reduced to 35 from 40.

A total of 266,011 students had reportedly appeared for the examinations -- 184,253 of them in the class 10 examination.
The ICSE exam 2018 were held from February 26 to March 28, while the ISC exams were conducted from February 7 to April 2.
Last year, 98.58 per cent students had cleared the ICSE exam. Ashwin Rao from Bengaluru and Muskan Abdullah Pathan from Pune had topped the class 10 exams with 99.4 per cent marks each.
