Gujarat: NEET 2017 Merit List Declared, Admissions Start Soon

The merit list of Gujarat candidates who qualified for admission to Medical, Dental, Ayurvedic and Homeopathy has been announced on Thursday by the Admission Committee for Professional Medical Educational Courses (ACPMEC). The qualified candidates had appeared for the NEET exam which is an entrance examination for any graduate medical course such as MBBS, Bachelor of Dental Surgery or postgraduate course i.e. Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Surgery in government or private medical colleges in India. The announced lists have details of the qualified students such as Roll Number, Percentile Rank, Category, Score and All-India Rank.

22,970 Qualify From Various Categories
According to the official sources, 60,426 candidates appeared for the entrance exam. The number of those who qualified for admission to Medical, Dental and Other Alternative medicine courses stood at 22,970 (including 11,656 from Open Category). There were 1,445 students from Scheduled Tribes, 1,869 students from Schedule Castes and 7,998 students from OBC category who qualified for various medical courses. According to officials, there are 3,630 seats in medical colleges and over 6,000 seats in medical allied seats in the state of Gujarat. The highest score of a Gujarat student is 681 out of 720. The student’s All-India rank is 23. The second on the list is a candidate who scored 680, followed by three with 671, 670 and 668 scores respectively. The eligibility score for the NEET in the General Category (GC) is 131 out of 720 while the same is 107 out of 720 for the Reserved Category students.

Online Admission To Start Soon
The Admission Committee for Professional Under-Graduate Medical Courses received a request from some parents On Thursday morning to declare the list of NEET scores of Gujarat students on the website. The NEET list was put up online in the states like Punjab, Karnataka and Telangana. The Committee then announced list of rank for students who appeared for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017. Officials confirmed that online admission process will be activated as soon as possible along with detailed schedule for the same in the next two days.

About NEET:
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is an entrance exam for any graduate and postgraduate medical course in India. Announced by the Government of Indian, it was held for the first time on May 5, 2013. The exam was soon invalidated by the Supreme Court of India on the petitions against it. However, the ban by the Court was lifted. Tthe NEET 2016 was conducted in English and Hindi. Later more languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati were added.
