Remuneration
On joining coast guard, the shortlisted candidates will be placed in basic pay 56,100 per month (pay level 10) bracket as per the seventh pay commission. In addition, the allowances applicable in a month would be:
1. Dearness allowance, as admissible from time to time
2. Kit maintenance allowance Rs. 600 per month
3. Flying allowance (For pilots - on award of wings) Rs. 13500 to Rs. 21000 per month
Other benefits include entitled rations as per government orders in force, medical cover for self and family including dependent parents, government accommodation for self and family on a nominal license fee, and45 days earned leave and 08 days casual leave every year with leave travel concession (LTC) for self, family and dependent parents as per Govt. rules. Appointed candidates will also get an insurance cover of 75 lakhs at a premium of Rs. 7500 per month as group insurance, contributory pension scheme and gratuity on retirement, canteen facilities and various loan facilities, participation in various sports and adventure activities, and ECHS medical facilities after retirement.
Further promotions to the ranks will be as per the laid down promotion criteria.
Eligibility criteria
Male candidates keen on applying for GD and GD pilot positions should hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate, ie. first semester to eighth semester for BE/B.Tech or first year to last year for Bachelor Degree Candidates wherever applicable. They also need to have studied mathematics and physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with 60% aggregate marks in both the subjects.
Only candidates cleared their final year/ final semester exams and completed their degrees are to apply.
Pilot (CPL) candidate should be class 12 pass with 60% marks in aggregate and should posses current/valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued/validated by DGCA on the date of submission of application. The male candidate should be born after July 1, 1993 and before June 30, 1999, both dates inclusive.
The upper age limit for OBC/SC & ST candidates is relaxable as per Govt. of India rules in vogue. However, SC and ST category candidates who have already appeared in PSB/FSB of Special Recruitment Drive of 01/2018 batch are not eligible for the current batch.
Additional requirements
Candidates who have failed in Computerised Pilot Selection System or are suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy are not eligible for Pilot branch. Those withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any other service training academy are not eligible to appear. Candidates should not have been arrested, convicted or prosecuted on criminal charges.
Application process
Interested candidates can apply online from June 24, 2017 till July 2, 2017 up to 5:00 PM. Every applicant should ensure that the information like personal email ID and mobile number is entered correctly. Candidate can apply for one position only. Filling of multiple applications will result in cancellation of all applications of such candidates.
Selection process
Candidates will be selected through two stage procedure: preliminary and finals. But before that, the applications will be screened to shortlist. The short listing criteria will be based on higher percentage of marks in the qualifying examination. The qualifying cut off for a particular branch or centre may be increased more than 60% if more applications with higher percentage are received.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for preliminary selection at given date, around mid July, and time. The examination will consist of mental ability/cognitive aptitude test, and picture perception and discussion test (PP&DT). The aptitude tests will be in English only and will be objective type. During PP&DT the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English. However they are free to speak in Hindi if they wish to do so.
The candidates who qualify in the prelims will be called for final selection. The date and venue will be uploaded on the official website. The final selection will comprise psychological test, group task and interview (personality test).
All candidates recommended by final selection board will undergo medical examination at nearest military hospital. Candidates for GD (pilot) and CPL will undergo medical at AFCME, Delhi.
On qualifying in the finals, GD (Pilot) candidates will be required to appear for computerized pilot selection system (CPSS) test at Dehradun/Mysore AFSBs. Those already qualified CPSS are to provide details of batch, chest number and place while filling up personal information questionnaire (PIQ) forms during finals.
A merit list will be prepared for the medically fit candidates on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the finals and depending upon the availability of vacancies. The list of candidates selected on the basis of merit list will be uploaded on the coast guard recruitment website during first week of December 2017. The joining letters will be issued accordingly. The training at INA, Ezhimala is scheduled to commence by December 2017 end.
The candidate's selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final merit list will have no rights for automatic selection for the next batch. Such candidates will have to undergo the selection procedure afresh provided that they meet the eligibility criteria for the fresh batch.
E-admit card
Applicants shortlisted for prelims have to take print out of the e-admit card available on the recruitment website from July 8, 2017 to July 14, 2017. Candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria will be issued a rejection slip along with cause of rejection displayed.
Candidates are required to print two copies of the e-admit card with recent identical photograph with blue background (not older than 03 months). In addition to the admit card and photograph, candidate also has to carry photocopies of all required documents i.e. class 10th certificate and mark sheet showing date of birth, 12th class certificate along with mark sheet showing subjects, degree certificate showing percentage of marks, caste certificate wherever required and NCC 'C' certificate/games certificate duly attested at the examination Centre.
The second copy of admit card is to be kept with the candidate as an identity proof during the selection procedure, while the remaining set of documents have to submitted to the examiner. Any candidate who does not carry all these documents at the time of prelims will not be permitted to appear in the exam.
