The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday announced 26 names in their seventh list of Lok Sabha candidates, which included anti-nuclear activist S P Udayakumar.
Udayakumar will contest from Kanyakumari constituency in Tamil Nadu. Udayakumar has been vocal against the Kundankulam nuclear plant and is the convener of People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE), an NGO which spearheads the Kundankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP).
His associate and another PMANE leader P S Jesuraj has been given an AAP ticket from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu. Udayakumar while joining AAP in the beginning of this month had said that he would take the anti-KNPP movement to the next level.
This list included eight candidates from Tamil Nadu, six from Bihar, four from Uttar Pradesh, ibe each from Manipur, Mizoram, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura and Maharashtra. With this, the AAP, which looks to fight on 350 LS seats has announced 268 candidates so far.
