Nitish Kumar on Saturday resigned as Bihar Chief Minister over the Lok Sabha poll debacle.
The Chief Minister went to Bihar Governor D Y Patil and tendered his resignation.
Saying that he takes moral responsibility for the party's dismal show, Kumar clarified that he has not recommended the dissolution of Bihar Assembly.

Since his party’s humiliating loss in the general election yesterday, Nitish has been under tremendous pressure to take the blame. His party won only 2 seats, while the BJP under his bête noire Narendra Modi captured 31 seats in Bihar.

On Friday, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, who used to be Nitish's deputy, had said that Nitish Kumar should take moral responsibility and resign. He has lost the confidence of the people.
Bihar has 40 Parliamentary seats.
