“It is Modi-wave everywhere. People know Modi more than the BJP,” party MLC Madhusudhan told Business Standard here.
BJP leaders campaigning for Pratap Simha, their candidate for Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha seat, are so confident of victory in the Lok Sabha elections they assert that it is the Modi wave that will bring them votes during this election than the party’s name. Banking on his popularity, they are confident of a big success in the Lok Sabha elections.
This was evident when senior BJP leader Madhusudhan made the above statement, asserting that they would emerge victorious both at the Centre and the state.
Asked about the disenchantment within a section of the party workers over “imposition of an outsider”, he said: “More than the candidate, it will be the Modi-wave that matters. Besides, voters are coming to know about Simha. He is sure to win. This time, we will be victorious by 150,000 to 200,000 votes.”
“We will bag more than 20 seats in Karnataka. We will top in the state and in the country. We are going to rule on our own or with our alliance partners. We will easily get 272-plus votes. There will be no problem whatsoever, in achieving victory,” he asserted.
Simha is banking on the Vokkaliga votes that would help him win by a big margin and which it hopes to emulate in Mandya too. “The secular look of our party during our campaign will bring us some Muslim votes too,” he claimed.
The legislator said, Modi will visit Karnataka in April during the first week and address rallies at 10-15 places, including Mysore.
Expressing a similar opinion on Modi-wave, ex-MLC Thontadarya said it was Modi wave that would work in this election, more than the image of the party or the candidates. It has had an impact on the people right from beginning.
“People have been favourably reacting during the campaign saying they will vote for Modi. They do not mention either the name of the BJP or that matter of the candidate,” he said.
Meanwhile, former Minister S A Ramadas, who had attempted suicide following allegations of an affair with a lady and stayed away from politics, joined Simha’s campaign today.
Meanwhile, Minister Roshan Baig, who participated in the Congress party campaign office inauguration today, said, there was no Modi-wave in the state and there was no chance of it working.
Nominations pass scrutiny
Meanwhile, in the scrutiny today, all the 33 nominations of 22 candidates were found in order. Candidates will have time to withdraw nominations till March 29.
