Congress candidate from Burdwan-Durgapur Lok Sabha seat, Vipin Vohra today said that he was opting out of the election fray due to family reason and informed the party of his decision.
"My family did not agree. My wife is taken ill. I have informed this to state Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury," Vohra, an industrialist, said.
Asked whether he was withdrawing due to any political pressure, he replied, "There is no other pressure. The only pressure is from my family".
"He is a good person. He was intimidated. His wife was also intimidated and she was taken ill. I can understand his position," Chowdhury said without elaborating who has intimidated them.
