Main opposition Congress party today declared its candidates list for 118 assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats of Odisha. The party had earlier announced names for nine Lok Sabha seats.
The new list today takes total number of approved names for Lok Sabha polls to 11, out of 21 seats of the state. In the third list announced by the party today from its New Delhi head office, Union minister of state Srikant Jena has been renamed to contest from Balasore constituency while Loknath Rath has been selected to fight from Aska Lok Sabha constituency.
Among assembly candidates, Congress nominated state Pradesh Congress Committee president (PCC) Jayadev Jena to contest from Anandpur seat. Other names include Naba Das (Jharsuguda), Santosh Singh Saluja (Kantabanjhi), Sadhu Nepak (Bargarh), Chiranjeev Biswal (Jagatsinghpur), Prasad Harichandan (Satyabadi) and Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra (Bramhagiri).
The party also decided to name sitting MLA Bhimsen Choudhury from Bonai assembly constituency, who had recently joined the party after his long-time suspension from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
