Alagiri, who was also a Union Minister under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), has been protesting since his brother, M K Stalin was named as the next party leader after Karunanidhi and an allegedly negative remark against Stalin was one of the reasons why he was suspended earlier from the party.
After suspension, Alagiri went on to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP President Rajnath Singh, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) leader Vaiko and H Raja, BJP's Sivaganga candidate. He has also allegedly started mobilising loyalists across the State, which created a rumour that he is planning to float a new party. DMK has came out stating that anybody who will be in touch with Alagiri will face similar action.
Earlier, Vaiko said that he met Alagiri to seek his support for NDA. " I came to meet Alagiri to garner support for me. I wanted to him to support me in the Lok Sabha polls".
It may be noted earlier Alagiri earlier said "Modi can be a good Prime Minister".
DMK, which was part of the UPA for a few years, is expected to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections alone, in Tamil Nadu.
