Former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today said that the girls in Punjab feel unsafe as the anti-social elements are getting "patronage" from the government.

In an interaction with a group of school girls here, Amarinder, the Congress candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, said "once I enter the parliament, I will draw the country's attention towards the prevailing law and order situation in Punjab where our daughters are not feeling safe".

The girls also raked up the issue of last years killing of an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in broad daylight after he tried to protect the honour of his daughter from some anti-social elements. He was allegedly shot dead by a youth Akali Dal leader.
