Congress leader Jai Prakash Agarwal on Friday described Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal expressing regret over quitting as the chief minister of Delhi as inappropriate.

"It's too late to make a statement like this. I think he played with the feelings of the people of Delhi. He made so many promises, and he just ran away. It is not proper for him to say now, as nobody is going to believe him," Agarwal said.

Kejriwal said recently that he may have committed an error on the timing of his resignation.

"In hindsight, I think we should have taken a few more days to hold public meetings to explain the rationale behind our decision and then quit. The suddenness of our decision and the communication gap with masses the allowed BJP and the Congress to spread falsehood about us and label us as escapists. This is a mistake we made and we will be more careful in the future," he said.
