A few constituencies in Tamil Nadu will see five corner fight during the upcoming Lok Sabha Election, as the the two left parties --Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and the Communist Party of India (CPI)-- have decided to go alone in Tamil Nadu. The decision comes a week after the two parties decided to break their tie-up with J Jayalalithaa-led All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

AIADMK offered one seat each to the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)and the Communist Party of India (CPI) out of the 39 Lok Sabha seats in the southern state. Unhappy with the offer, the two left parties called off their alliance with the AIADMK for the Lok Sabha elections. Communist senior party leader said each party asked for four seats.

Meanwhile, the DMK Supermo M Karunanidhi and and its ally invited the left parties to join them, however today the two parties have said they decided to go alone to contest the election.

CPI’s National Secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy today said that the two Communist Left parties have decided to go alone in Tamil Nadu. He added, the two parties will contest in those constituencies, which they feel the prospect of victory is high.
