BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today came down heavily on the Centre for blocking crucial infrastructure projects and industries in the name of environment. He also said, this is a “very very special election, people themselves are contesting, not any parties or candidates.”
Addressing a public rally at Erode, about 450 km from Chennai, Modi said: “In the name of environment, all projects were stalled and Jayanti Tax (Congress leader Jayanti Natarajan was the environment minister in the UPA ) was being imposed. Green was not about trees, but the colour of currency.” The Congress sold everything in the name of green and for green, he said referring to the greenback.
The saffron party’s leader took everybody by surprise when he said: “Sorry to say, one lady of Tamil Nadu was responsible for delaying a lot of infrastructure projects. This lady from the Congress caused a huge loss to Tamil Nadu and India.”
“Madam Soniaji, if the project is held up for green reasons, how did it change once you changed the environment minister. Overnight, 250 projects were cleared,” said Modi. This election is for the prime minister who can have a voice in his own government, he said.
