The BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today urged young voters to come out and vote during the Lok Sabha election. He said these votes will help not only their future, but also the country's future.

Addressing a public rally at Erode in Southern Tamil Nadu, Modi said the youth today have a lot of opportunities to shine which their grandfathers, fathers and even their brothers did not get.

Focussing on employment, Modi in his speech said he is personally committed to reorient the economy, especially the manufacturing and tourism sector, so that it can create more jobs for the youth.

Erode faces huge challenge of 'unemployment' as thousands of micro units have closed down, mainly due to the economic slowdown and power cuts.

Modi, on a two day viist to the state, said his focus will be on developing more skilled labour.  On Wednesday, he addressed at Krishnagiri, Salem and Coimbatore areas.

"Can you think of a country where skilled labourers are becoming unskilled, that is what is happening in India," said Modi.

He said in Tamil Nadu in 2012, about 77.43 lakh people had registered with the employment exchange but only 10,800 got jobs. In contrast, Modi said Gujarat produced 57% of the total job requirements in the country and the state could do it because it focussed on skill development.

Modi promised that if he is voted to power, he will focus on industries like the textile industry which are labour intensive. It may be noted, Erode district is one of the major hubs for the textile industry. Blaming the Centre's policy, for not developing the industry, he said the Indian textile industry, which got huge potential to grow is facing a tough time and losing out to countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh and others.
